to be with you. i'm terrell brown. a strong earthquake hit northeastern japan this morning, the magnitude 7.3 quake struck in the early evening in the same area that suffered a powerful quake and tsunami last year. a tsunami warning has been issued. residents have been told to move to higher ground. the fukushima nuclear plant has not been damaged. the quake was felt as far south as tokyo. lucy craft is in tokyo. what can you tell us? >> reporter: no reports of damage or injury. it's still way too early. we have a tsunami warning. the tide is about three feet or two meters or one meter, i should say. very interesting, this time the warnings came very fast and furious. the announcer was yelling at people to get to higher ground. big difference this year. >> we were watching in our newsroom as the alerts came in. what did you feel, what did you experience there? was it anything noticeable? >> i was talking to someone on the phone and she said she should get off the phone, this is a big one. my windows were rattling. my pictures, i thought i was going to have to grab them before they fell off.

sentence of life in prison in the death of 7-year-old maria rid ridulph. patti ann browne from the new york city newsroom. >> reporter: jack mccullough was 17 when the 7-year-old girl disappeared and later found dead. mccullough is 73 years old and he was just convicted in her death this year. prosecutors say back in 1957 the teenage mccullough approached maria and other girl. when the other girl left, dragging maria into an alley choked her with a wire and stabbed her in the throat and chess. he dumped her body in a wooded area 100 miles away. she was found four months later. the case was unsolved for decades. mccullough's half-sister told police that her mother incriminated mccullough before her death. he was arrested tried and convicted. he claims he has an alibi at the time of maria's death. he claims he was traveling to chicago for a medical exam before joining the air force. his half-sister says he is evil and should pend spend the rest of his life behind bars. he faces a maximum life in prison. mccullough did not testify during the trial but will have a chance to speak in court. jon:

and teammate jerry brown. casey stegele is live in arlington, texas. casey? >> reporter: yeah, today, josh brant is expected to bond out of jail. he has a bond hearing set later this morning. police believe that he was driving drunk, late friday night, early saturday morning, which is why he has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. apparently, he was driving his vehicle, not far from cowboys stadium, about a few miles or so, when he was driving at a high rate of speed, according to the police report, his wheel hit a curb. he lost control, flipped and his vehicle caught fire. officers on the scene say that the cowboys' nose tackle then failed the field sobriety test, but his attorney now saying that road construction in the area maybe partially to blame. listen. >> anyone that's been here knows how much construction is going on on 114. it's hazardous. it is not well lit at night. it is difficult to see. i have done tyou don't see these things. it is changing. it is not as if you know it thursday night and it's the same on friday night t. seems to change on an almost daily basis. >>

of the crash that killed the dallas cowboys jerry brown is now speaking out. she claims brown's teammate, josh brent, is no hero. she says brent, who was arrested on suspicion of intoxication, manslaughter initially did nothing to help. more now from wfaa reporter jason whitley. >> reporter: stacy mcwilliams says she came forward to set the record straight about josh brent. >> he wasn't a hero. and he wasn't trying to help this man. this was after the police showed up. >> reporter: mcwilliams tells us that she was one of two people to drive up to the mercedes minutes after the crash. >> i'm like, are you all right? are you okay? and he's like, yeah, i'm okay and the lady in the car said, yeah, i already called 911. and then the car caught fire and she looked to him for help. i said, is there somebody in the car? and he was like, yeah. >> reporter: you could see the smoke rising off of the car from the cell phone picture that mcwilliams took. >> reporter: what might be one of the only images of the wreck that night. >> and i said, get him out of the car. you can't just stand here and watch this
